Driving in Flower Mound

Flower Mound spreads between Lake Grapevine and Lewisville Lake with FM 2499 and FM 1171 crossing in the middle and State Highway 114 clipping the south end. The lakes mean the road network is shaped like a fan rather than a grid.

The corridor that carries most of it: FM 2499, Long Prairie Road, at FM 1171, Cross Timbers Road.

Why Flower Mound Crashes Happen Where They Do

FM 2499, Long Prairie Road, is the main north-south artery and it carries traffic between State Highway 114 and Lewisville on a six-lane arterial with retail entrances the whole way. FM 1171, Cross Timbers Road, crosses it and carries the east-west commute toward Grapevine and Denton. That single intersection handles a large share of the town's traffic. The lakes remove the parallel routes that would relieve it, so when either road backs up the queue goes a long way and the rear-end crashes follow.

What Flower Mound Drivers Should Know

  • Your insurer can recommend a shop. It cannot require one. That right is in Texas Insurance Code 1952.301.
  • If the other driver caused it, their insurance pays for the repair.
  • On a small repair, paying yourself can cost less than a claim. Get the free estimate first, then decide.
  • Not-at-fault claims usually do not touch your rate. At-fault claims usually do, and that call belongs to your insurer, not to us.
