US 80 through Forney behaves like a freeway but its interchanges at FM 548, FM 741 and Pinson Road were built for a much smaller town. Frontage roads collect thousands of new subdivision trips and hand them to short merges, and the evening queue back toward Mesquite starts on the mainlanes. FM 548 runs north and south as the town's main commercial street with left turns across four lanes into retail. Broad Street carries the older downtown traffic and the rail crossing that goes with it.
